Clark County fire stations of the past lacked any identifiable traits other than the bay of garage doors. The signage was minimal and station numbers lacked prominence. It was the client’s wish to bring civic prominence back to these public facilities. This prototypical design drew inspiration from the history of the American Fire Station by incorporating metaphors for the following prominent icons: firepole, ladder, hose dryer and bell tower. The fire stations include two or three-bays, EMT facilities, living quarters, storage, turn-out gear area and classrooms. The fire station at McCarran Airport includes bomb squad facilities and 4 apparatus bays.
