Nye County School District liked the design of Floyd Elementary School so much that they asked us to turn the design into a prototype. Based on comments from teachers and administrators the prototype has two additional classrooms and higher ceiling heights in the multi-purpose / gym area. The exterior and interior colors have also changed to help create a new identity.
Manse Elementary School is heated and cooled via a geothermal system using a hybrid ground source heat exchanger with ground loop design using ultra-high efficiency split units and normal water-to-air units. There are 42 bore-holes at a depth of 360 feet with 6 miles of pipe located under the play fields. We anticipated that this system would provide 110% heating and 60% cooling for the school. The cost of the system should be realized within 14 years.
