The East Las Vegas Library was an urban infill project located at East Bonanza and 28th Street. It included new construction of a 44,370 square-foot library building to serve an overlooked neighborhood in East Las Vegas.

The project site once existed as a public housing development for the Southern Nevada Regional Housing Authority, leaving behind a collection of mature and lush Aleppo pine trees that once dotted the residential cul-de-sacs. Sitting in contrast to the desert climate, the trees were preserved and became an integral part of the gathering spaces that are central to the library’s connection to the community.

The facility functions as a community hub offering technology, Wi-Fi, workforce training and tutoring. Spaces within the facility include a cultural event space, conference room, a cafe, classrooms, rooms for story time, collaboration and studying, a recording studio, green screen room, tech arts lab, and a computer lab.

The project also features a 10,775 square-foot library stack with seven reading areas and a 3,476 square-foot multipurpose room with a 300-seat capacity.

The project is LEED Gold Certified.
